The Mary Macarthur Convalescent Home on Breck Road operated from 1940 until 1990. The home was funded and managed by the Mary Macarthur Holiday Trust that was formed in 1922 and still exists today although it no longer owns any homes. Its aim was to assist working women or women of working age.
