Church Street more or less as we would recognise it today. 
Church Street was converted into a pedestrian precinct in the 1970/80s. 
In 1973 the South West corner of Church Street was demolished to accommodate the building of the entrance to the new Teanlowe Centre. 
Church Street when it still had two-way traffic. The street also contained the Post Office, Long’s Booksellers (now The Pork Shop) and Lancastria Co-op (now Peacocks).
